Its members influence politics across the Dune empire, and own substantial shares in CHOAM, a corporate conglomerate that controls all trade in the known universe. House Atreides has a noble lineage, tracing its ancestry back to the mythological Greek character, Agamemnon, of the House of Atreus. The Bene Gesserit are an illuminati-style band of women who travel throughout the galaxy of Dune. Sometimes known as ‘sorceresses’ and ‘witches’, they wield political and religious influence through their use of prophetic tales, poisons, and the Voice – a trained modulation of speech patterns that cause weak-willed populations to follow their commands.
