Its members influence politics across the Dune empire, and own substantial shares in CHOAM, a corporate conglomerate that controls all trade in the known universe. House Atreides has a noble lineage, tracing its ancestry back to the mythological Greek character, Agamemnon, of the House of Atreus. The Mentats use sapho juice to boost their already formidable mental powers. SciFiMix Original Art, inspired by Frank Herbert’s Dune.
The Mentats are a professional society of logicians, stategists, and mathematicians in Frank Herbert’s Dune. Their minds honed from infancy through strict mental conditioning, Mentats are able to outperform smart computers in their abilities to process and evaluate data. Mentats can double or triple these abilities even further through the consumption of sapho juice, an extract from the root of the Ecaz tree, but this consumption leads to addiction. Over time, sapho juice stains the user’s lips, making scarlet lips a hallmark of many Mentats. (more…)
